| 1. Why is it important
for tree companies to have insurance?
Trimming & take down of trees can prove to
be very dangerous. Unfortunately, sometimes damage can occur in
the process. If you have contracted an insured company to do the
job, damages can be repaired in a timely manner. Since the insurance
will cover the cost, it makes the job cost effective for the company.
This in turn, will assist to keep the companies prices lower, yet
instill consumer confidence when a job is requested.
2. How often should I
trim my tree?
Trimming once a year is highly recommended for
most trees. To attain a visually pleasing desert tree however, most
clients will have them serviced twice a year. The twice a year is
also suggested for monsoon protection. Especially for the more brittle
types of trees, i.e. paloverde, eucalyptus & acacias.
3. Why is topping not
recommended?
When you top a tree, you sever the places energy
routed. The trees will form improper growth on decayed joints, thus
creating a problem on the next monsoon or windy day. Topping will
virtually stunt the trees growth & the tree will never be structurally
sound again.
4. How often should I
water my trees?
Watering should be done on a weekly basis. Make
sure to give the trees a slow, deep soak. If the water is applied
rapidly, the surface dirt will become muddy and only appear to be
watered issuing little to the roots which will have to come closer
to the surface causing the tree to become less structurally sound.
5.
I've heard to water large trees near the base, is that true?
No, Tree feeder roots & water absorbing roots
are located around the drip line of a tree. Watering techniques
are detrimental to a tree's structure & health. If you water
near the trunk, the roots will have a hard time getting the depth
& girth needed because there is no water any further than the
trunk.
6. What makes a good shade
tree in Arizona?
Ficus, Eucalyptus, Shoestring Acacia & Mesquites
all make great shade trees in Arizona. If considering a tree for
its durability the mesquite would be best. However, Acacias &
Mesquites lose the most foliage. Ficus require the least clean up
& are an Arizona favorite. Keep in mind ficus trees tend to
attract lots of birds.
7. What is necessary in
the care of newly planted tree?
Water the newly planted tree 5-8 gallons every
2-3 days for the first 6 months. Remove any staking system after
one year except when approaching a monsoon before the trimming season.
Pruning should be completed by a professional only.
